Aggressive Expansion Plans see two Hotels joining the c3 network last month
CityBlue hotels founder and CEO Jameel Verjee announced during the African Hotel Investment Forum (AHIF) his vision for the c3 hotel network, a concept which takes inspiration from some of the worlds most successful digitally driven companies such as AirBnB, Chinese taxi hailing service Didi Chuxing, Uber and the Indian unicorn Oyo Rooms.
The launch follows the success of traditional model brands Urban by CityBlue and CityBlue Hotels & Suites.
Having signed two hotels with the c3 brand in Kenya and Burundi respectively, CityBlue Hotels has created a digital platform which plans to aggregate thousands of rooms across the continent. CityBlue’s management believes that c3 has the potential to become Africa’s answer to AirBnB using small to medium size hotels, offering a level of security and comfort to guests.
The first c3 hotels are c3 West End Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya, a 66 key hotel located in the heart of Westlands, which also boasts the Be Well Gym, Bleu Mer Spa, and the B3 Bar & Restaurant as well as extensive conferencing facilities and c3 Kiriri Garden Bujumbura, Burundi, a beautifully situated hilltop property overlooking the city and lake with 20 well appointed apartments, and another 70 rooms in the pipeline.
The addition in Kenya marks the fourth country presence for CityBlue Hotels, which already has properties in Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi taking its total footprint to six properties opened since 2013. CityBlue recently featured in the annual W Hospitality Group Report top ten list of brands for development pipelines. The chain is rapidly spreading from its birth place in East Africa with a further ten upcoming properties set to open in the next 36 months in; Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon.
