The Social house Nairobi
The Social House, Nairobi A Little Bit About Us We opened our doors for guests in February 2020, but abruptly closed three weeks later as Covid hit east Africa. Then four weeks on, armed with masks, sanitization stations and restaurant tables suitably distanced from one another, we opened again. And we’ve been open ever since. We describe the House as 1.3 Degrees From The Equator. 180 Degrees From Ordinary. So said for many reasons, but particularly as we wanted to position ourselves as a social, business, fashion, music, arts and culinary hub with rooms, rather than a lodging establishment with ancillary services for overnight guests. At any given time 75% of those who create the buzz in the house are Nairobians who in turn become an integral part of the vivacious spirit of the House for overseas guests. We have 83 rooms, 7 meetings and events spaces and four restaurants: an open-fire grill, a café & coffee roastery, an ‘outdoors-in’ dining room and a Peruvian bistro. But what mostly sets us apart are our people, known as Marifiki (Swahili for Friends). We simply seek out those who display an authentic sparkle, and then instead of straight-jacketing them in red tape and trussing them up in ill-fitting suits and ties we let them loose to be themselves; to connect in a natural and engaging way with all who pass through our doors. We were runners-up in Nat Geo’s Best New Urban Hotel 2021, second only to The Hoxton, Rome and alongside Capella, Bangkok. We have twice won Kenya’s Best Boutique Hotel in the World Travel Awards and our Peruvian restaurant Inca was named Kenya’s Best Restaurant in The World Culinary Awards. In May 2023 we were named as Most Pioneering Urban Hospitality Enterprise 2023 in MEA Markets’ African Excellence Awards. Karibu Sana! www.thesocialhouse.ke +254 709 216 000 +254 709 216 029
