The Social House Nairobi
James spent 25 years conceiving, creating and helping to operate independent start-up hotel brands across Asia, including The Upper House in Hong Kong, The Opposite House in Beijing, Trisara in Koh Samui, Thailand and Sangha Retreat in Suzhou, China. Having developed a taste for the creation of hotels in developing Asian markets he turned his attention to Africa, working in Malawi, Zambia, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Kenya. James joined the Board of The Social House in Nairobi in 2018 and continues to be an integral shaper of both organisational culture and the entirety of the guest experience. In 2016 he wrote and published the only book currently focused solely on the creation of hotel brands: Hotel Brand Bites (And Other Service Brand Nibbles).
