Originally from the UK, Tony has made his home in Cape Town and his career in Africa, having settled here in 1995. Highlights of his career include 8 years at Cape Grace Hotel as part of the opening team with Euan , where the hotel was voted Condé Nast Traveler Best Hotel in the World in 2000, and GM for 5 years: Singita South Africa as Senior General Manager for 3 years, undoubtedly the finest group of Safari Lodges in the World and multiple winners of ‘Best in the World’ by Condé Nast Traveler (US & UK) and Travel & Leisure (US); General Manager One&Only Cape Town, where he worked with the international team under Sol Kerzner in the opening 2 years to establish the hotel as the market leader in SA; 3 years as CEO of the Collection by Liz McGrath, a group of 3 luxury Relais & Chateaux branded hotels in the Cape, including The Greenhouse as SA’a No 1 restaurant in 2011; In 2013, Tony founded Valor Africa with Euan & Michael, with Valor Middle East coming in 2018. Tony sas sat on several boards and advisory councils in all aspects of the industry and most recently as Chairperson of the National Exco of SATSA, South Africa’s leading Inbound Tourism Association. Tony is married, has 3 daughters and enjoys cycling, traveling and Cape wines.
