David Green

Chief Executive Officer
V&A Waterfront

David joined the V&A Waterfront as CEO in 2009, following a decade working in Port and Property industry within the UK. His career began in 1980 at KPMG where he was exposed to and gained valuable experience in Insolvency Practice, with emphasis on recovery and business turnaround activity. Following this, he’s held several internationally based General Management and Financial positions in the Manufacturing Industry. They’ve included Managing Director European Operations: Coats Viyella plc Thread Division (London); General Manager: Tootal/Coats (Costa Rica); Finance Director: Coats Brazil (Brazil), General Manager: Coats Brazil Zips (Brazil) and Development Director: Thread Division Coats Viyella plc (London). Nine years on, he started out in Sea Port and Property culminating in the role of Group Finance Director at Peel Ports, part of the UK’s largest privately owned property and transport business. During this time, he led the acquisition of Mercy Docks (a FTSE 200 company) and the integration of the company into the group and the sale of 49% to infrastructure company Rief (part of Deutsche Bank). David currently serves as CEO of the V&A Waterfront and Chairman of the Zeitz MOCAA Museum Cape Town and Chairman of the Two Oceans Aquarium. In December 2025 he was awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for outstanding contributions to UK-South Africa relations.
