Dr. Ivan Meyer

Dr Ivan Meyer was a senior civil servant where he was responsible for provincial training in the Western Cape. He holds a Masters and a Ph.D. degree in Public Administration from the University of Stellenbosch. He was a senior lecturer teaching public administration and public policy analysis. He joined the Western Cape Provincial Parliament in 2009 and has since then held the following positions: - Minister of Social Development - Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport - Minister of Finance - Minister of Agriculture, and since 2024 - Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism. He also served as Leader of Government Business (LOGB) for five years from 2019 – 2024. Currently he serves as Federal Chairperson of the Democratic Alliance, and he is also responsible for international relations in the Party. He was re-appointed in the Cabinet after the elections where he holds his current position.
