Profile

Janice Mitten

Partner
Studio Moren

Janice leads hospitality design specialist Studio Moren’s strategic business development, PR and marketing. She is also involved in developing the inclusive and considerate company culture.

Janice has worked in a diverse range of hospitality roles building up a deep understanding of the sector. After completing her studies, in Public Relations & Business Communications in South Africa, she moved to London in 2002. She worked her way up through various positions within hospitality; front of house, operations, event planning, sales, reservations, revenue and duty management. Janice then moved over to client account management for a company who provided mindset & behavioural training to hotel teams, to equip them to deliver outstanding guest experiences in an authentic way. Next Janice joined a restaurant & bar design specialist before joining Studio Moren in 2017. Janice has recently led the studio through the brand evolution from Dexter Moren Associates to Studio Moren.

In her spare time Janice is a mentor for The House of St Barnabas, a members’ club & social enterprise in Soho, London. Their Employment Academy trains and supports people affected by homelessness to find and thrive in lasting paid hospitality work. Janice is also an Ambassador for Women in Hotels ('WiH'), a not-for-profit organisation founded in April 2020 to drive parity across the sector. WiH members work across the spectrum - they build, fund, operate and/or advise hotels - which ensures engaging discussions from different viewpoints and experiences. Membership is free where contribution is the only currency. Knowledge share, collaboration and empowerment are the pillars of WiH.
