Etosha

The abundance of game in Etosha National Park is somewhat unexpected, showcasing some of the most common and rarest wildlife species. The areas with thicker vegetation are home to elephant (some of the largest in Africa due to the vitamins and nutrients found in the ground), the endangered black rhino and even leopard.

Etosha Safari Camp - Gondwana Collection Namibia

Swakopmund

Swakopmund offers many touristic attractions like splendid buildings, a wonderful town promenade, the aquarium and many more. The coastal road which is flanked by dunes on the one side and by the Atlantic Ocean on the other is very impressive. Excursions can be made 30 km south to Walvis Bay, as well as up north to the fishing paradise of Henties Bay or to Cape Cross to one of the world largest seal colonies.

Sossusvlei

Sossusvlei is a perfect specimen of Nambia’s unspoilt desert beauty. It is a salt and clay pan situated in the largest conservation area in Africa, the Namib-Naukluft National Park. This photogenic area is famous for its large, red sand dunes, which are some of the tallest sand dunes in the world and is one of Namibia’s most visited attractions.

Zambezi

Characterised by lush forests, vast floodplains and flowing rivers, the Caprivi Strip (newly renamed as the Zambezi Region) is a narrow panhandle in northern Namibia that extends 450km (280mi) eastwards between Botswana and Angola.

Zambezi Mubala Lodge - Gondwana Collection Namibia, Zambezi Region

The Zambezi Region, previously known as the Caprivi Strip, is Namibia’s “panhandle” that juts out eastwards between Angola and Botswana all the way to Zimbabwe. Its easternmost tip is the only spot on the planet where four countries meet. The Zambezi Region lies in the middle of one of Africa’s largest and best-known game-viewing areas. It is part of the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), which combines 36 game reserves in Namibia, Angola, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Since there are no fences, animals can move freely between the neighbouring countries. The abundance of water supplied by the Zambezi, Okavango, Kwando and Chobe rivers sustains a large variety of animal and bird species.

Damaraland

Walvis Bay

Today Walvis Bay is the third largest town of Namibia and its only deep-sea harbour. As the water of the coastal area is very clean Walvis Bay is known for its high quality fish, oysters, rock lobsters, etc. There are quite a few touristic highlights: Take a boat trip along the coast to view dolphins and seals. For bird enthusiasts and anglers trips by boat or 4x4 vehicles to the bird colonies of the 10 kilometre long lagoon of Sandwich Harbour are a special treat. In this large natural lagoon more than 120,000 birds have been counted, including pelicans and flamingos.

A trip to “Dune 7” just outside town is also well worth it. It is the highest dune in the area and you can not only enjoy an amazing view when standing on top of it, but also try sand boarding!
